Taxi has a stunning catalogue and on our new release we will be showcasing the very finest of the labels early output. Black Uhuru; The Viceroys, Tamlins and Dennis Brown have all recorded for Sly and Robbie. They are all gathered here along with several super rare dub plates and hard to find versions. Spread out over four sides of vinyl and a re-mastered CD, we have lovingly put together a beautiful booklet with pictures from the early 80s (courtesy of photographer Beth Lesser), sleevenotes from Harry Hawke and artwork by Jeb Nichols. This is a stunning compilation. 22 tracks of niceness gathered for your enjoyment!!! |

Umetered Taxi
Scintillating tight drums with a driving and heavy bassline throughout . Robbie's sparse laid back bass notes are extremely heavy , trust me , and you will feel this one vibrating throughout your heart ,chest and your entire body. I love the snare drums and that 'whipping' type sound that Sly enages on Jimmy Riley's 'love and devotion', that Sly engages on Baltimore. Another absolute favourite of mine is the well versioned 'Unmetered Taxi' (peanut vendor rhythm) . Certainly, one of the tightest reggae rhythms I have ever come across . Check out the bouncy repetitive Bassline, complimented by Sly's pounding bass drums. |
