Totally in tune with what was currently being played on Kingston ’s sound systems. These mixes were clearly aimed at a sound system audience. Consequently they are mixed quite differently from other versions of the same songs. Deep heavy mixes that have a rawness and sparseness that were perfect for Jamaican Sound Systems. That was the original target audience for the mixes on this album. There was a brief period, around late 1977, when it looked as if the type of sound system mixes that had always been popular with operators and selectors might actually become part of the reggae mainstream. With his finely tuned antennae Striker picked up on this potential new market and gave these recordings to Count Shelly to release. The album, ‘Twenty Golden Greats’, came out in early 1978 with no real indication of what might be in the grooves. It appeared on Shelly’s London based Third World label and, was never pressed in Jamaica . The record sold in very small numbers and then disappeared. It has since become a collector’s item. Truly rare and totally unique. There are very few albums like this that ever appeared in the history of reggae. A remix album before such a genre had become part of popular culture. This is album is a soulful gem. Re-packaged and re-mastered from the original master tapes. We have some super rare flyers and graphics included in our artwork. It’s a quality package for one of Jamaica ’s greatest ever vocalists. Delroy Wilson as you have never heard him before. Remixed by Prince Jammy and executive-produced by Bunny ‘Striker’ Lee. |

PS Does It Again
How does Pressure Sounds do it? Declining CD sales, music piracy, worldwide economic meltdown - and yet through it all, Pressure Sounds quietly continue to release some of the true gems of Jamaican music. A casual look at the track listing will make most collectors think that this album isn't anything special - a rather redundant collection of the best known Delroy tunes. However, these are the soulful and unique dub plate specials that were mixed by Prince Jammy, which gives these reggae chestnuts a very different vibe. Top ranking, as I would say. |

Every CD you buy should be as good as this!
I'd heard quite a few songs by Delroy Wilson, thought he had an amazing voice, and was really, really looking forward to this release, as I hadn't heard any of the songs on this album. On first listen, probably because I was far too excited about it, I was quite disappointed, none of the songs really grabbed me, and I'm not generally that keen on love songs. Like a fine wine, second time around it just came alive, the care and attention that has been paid to the sound on this album is just astounding. I can't see myself listening to anything else for a good while - another phenomenal release from this phenomenal label. Thank you! |

Delroy wilson - Dubplate style
I don't say this kind of thing often, but this really is an essential album. Jammys mixing is superb, heavy heavy stuff. Thanks PS. |

Amazing
Nothing much to add that hasn't been said aside from this record is absolutely beautiful. The Jammy production takes Delroy's already timeless songs to somewhere altogether heavier without losing any of the original feeling. Thankyou to all involved. |

Absolutely Brilliant !
I can imagine being a DJ/Selector dropping these exclusive mixes in a sound clash and totally destroying the other sounds. Absolutely brilliant stuff, one of the many highlights for me was "Here Come The Heartaches" spine tingling! This is going to sell and sell ... well done guys! |
